The story of Hotel Keurusselkä
Traditional, but still current and fresh
In Keurusselkä there has traditionally been accommodation business since the 1940’s. It’s important to Keurusselkä Hotels Oy that the beautiful Keurusselkä view is still available to be admired in the future. Our goal is long-term operations that will benefit the entire region. We also want to set an example that the long regional history does not mean that development could not take place.
Sustainable tourism is important therefore we will continue to have a service to offer. We want to respect this traditional Finnish landscape we have and cherish it to the best of our ability.
Obtaining the right to use the Sustainable Travel Finland- brand is actually a start for us. It gives us the tools to make our journey towards a more sustainable and responsible Hotel Keurusselkä.
Responsibility as part of everyday work
We take many responsible matters for granted – we will be paid the appropriate salary, it is safe to come to work every day and we can trust each other. Responsibilities are often small everyday actions. We sort and recycle and advise you to avoid food waste at the restaurant.
Ecology and green values are often the first things that come to mind about sustainable tourism. We have received the Green Key certificate in May 2021 as proof of our environmental work. Hotel Keurusselkä employs locally, pays corporate tax, and cooperates locally. History is important to us, and we are aware of our culturally valuable location. Pirtti is our oldest building and was built in 1937 as a hunting lodge. The original Lomahotelli was completed in 1949 and is still in use all year round. We keep the buildings in good condition and usable in the future as well.

We will invest more in corporate responsibility communications in the future, and in addition, the involvement of all personnel is essential. So luckily it seems we have work to do in the future as well 😊
